Risk Factors for Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes Mellitus is known mostly by accident when we visited the health center when the laboratory is recommended check. and it may be positive you have diabetes mellitus

to be better prepared to face the disease, it would be bai if you know the factors resikko factors affected by diabetes

Risk factors that can not be prevented:
1. Race and ethnicity
2. Family history of diabetes (children with diabetes)
3. Age. The risk of developing glucose intolerance increases with increasing age. Age> 45 years should be the examination of DM.
4. A history of having a baby with infant birth weight> 4000 grams or has suffered a history of gestational diabetes mellitus (DMG).
5. A history of low birth weight, less than 2.5 kg.
Babies born with low weight have a higher risk compared with infants born with normal weight.

Risk factors that can be prevented:
1. Overweight (BMI> 23 kg/m2).
2. Lack of physical activity.
3. Hypertension (> 140/90 mmHg).
4. Dyslipidemia (HDL <35 mg / dL or triglycerides> 250 mg / dL) v diet is not healthy (unhealthy diet).
5. A diet with high sugar and low in fiber will increase the risk of developing prediabetes and type 2 DM.

Other factors associated with risk of diabetes:
1. Patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or other clinical conditions associated with insulin resistance
2. Patients with metabolic syndrome
Having a history of impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) or impaired fasting blood glucose (GDPT) previously.
Having a history of cardiovascular disease, such as stroke, CHD, PAD (Peripheral Arterial Diseases)..p
